The Korb Story

A little bit of Germany, brought home

Korb began with a feeling we couldn’t quite shake.

Having lived in Germany, we came to love the traditions, the food, the independent makers and, perhaps most of all, the atmosphere. Christmas markets filled with the smell of warm spices and freshly baked treats. Long evenings with friends over good beer. The anticipation of the festive season. The little discoveries that made those experiences feel distinctly German.

When we moved back to the UK, we brought those memories with us, but we missed them.

As German Christmas markets and Oktoberfest events began to flourish across the UK, it was clear that we weren't alone.

So we created Korb.

The founders taking a selfie above Nuremberg Christmas Market at dusk, with the man wearing a red knit beanie and light gray knit neck warmer, and the woman wearing a cream knit beanie with a pom-pom and a dark navy jacket.
A styled flat-lay of beer bottles and accessories arranged on a white marble surface with dramatic diagonal shadows. Visible items include two dark brown bottles with labels, a clear bottle with a white label, three smaller bottles with colourful labels, a black blomus bottle opener, a slab of chocolate in a black envelope, a small yellow Liquorice tin, and a yellow cookie box.

Curated with purpose

Korb is about bringing some of that experience home.

We seek out great German food, drink and design, with a particular love for independent producers and brands with great stories. We carefully curate each collection to feel considered, authentic and genuinely enjoyable. A combination that works together to create a sense of place, occasion and discovery.

We want to introduce people to the Germany we know and love, while giving German food, drink and design the considered, contemporary setting they deserve.

beyond food & drinks

Every Korb collection includes something beyond just food and drink.

We choose pieces that complement the collection and add another dimension to the experience. Something useful, beautiful, collectable or simply worth keeping.

Because a great gift shouldn't disappear as soon as the last bottle is opened or the last biscuit is enjoyed.

Our intention is that something of the experience remains: a piece of design, an object with a story, or something that finds a place in everyday life, long after the contents have been enjoyed.

Four metallic ice cubes, a black drawstring pouch, and a kraft paper box on a marble surface in dramatic sunlight and shadow. The pouch and box are branded Blomus.

Engineered for Korb

Then there is the Korb itself.

We couldn't find a hamper that felt right for what we were trying to create, so we designed one ourselves.

The Korb, meaning basket in German, is designed and engineered exclusively for us, created to be as considered as the collection inside it. Modern, contemporary and distinctive, it is a departure from the traditional wicker hamper, designed for people who appreciate beautiful objects as much as they appreciate what goes inside them.

Every detail, from the structure to the materials, has been considered to complement the products it holds. And when the contents have been enjoyed, the Korb lives seamlessly in your home.

Hampers auf Deutsch

At its heart, Korb is a personal project born from a genuine love of Germany and the experiences we had there.

It's about the Christmas markets we still miss, the bierfests we remember, the food we discovered, and the brands we came to love. And the feeling of bringing people together around something good.

So we curated the products.

We designed the Korb.

And we brought a little bit of Germany home.

Willkommen bei Korb.
