Lebkuchen-Schmidt
Few names are as closely associated with Nuremberg’s famous gingerbread as Lebkuchen-Schmidt. Founded in 1927, the company has been making its Lebkuchen in Nuremberg for almost a century, becoming a much-loved part of the city’s Christmas tradition.
From beautifully decorated keepsake tins to traditional festive plätzchen biscuits, Lebkuchen-Schmidt captures something we particularly love about German Christmas: a sense of ritual, craftsmanship and generosity.
Original Nürnberger Elisen-Lebkuchen Tin
Elisen-Lebkuchen is one of the great specialities of Nuremberg. Rich in nuts and warming spices and made with very little flour, it has a wonderfully soft texture and an intensely aromatic flavour.
Beautifully presented in the 2026 Elisen tin, it is a classic German Christmas treat that feels just as special to give as it is to eat.
WHY WE CHOSE IT
Nuremberg's Christkindlesmarkt was one of the inspirations behind Korb, so a proper Nürnberger Lebkuchen was always going to have a place in our collection. This is the real thing: a German Christmas classic with nearly a century of history behind it, in a limited edition tin
Lebkuchen Music Box
A little Christmas magic in a tin. Beneath the beautifully decorated exterior are traditional Lebkuchen, while the tin itself doubles as a music box, bringing the winter song 'Schneeflöckchen, Weißröckchen' ('Snowflakes, White Skirts') to the table.
WHY WE CHOSE IT
We love gifts that don't end when the last biscuit is eaten. This one combines the pleasure of a traditional Christmas treat with something to keep and enjoy for years to come.
Nürnberger Christkindlesmarkt-Stollen
Stollen is one of Germany's great Christmas bakes: rich, fragrant and made for leisurely slices alongside coffee or tea. This version takes its inspiration from Nuremberg's famous Christkindlesmarkt, bringing another taste of one of Germany's best-loved festive traditions.
WHY WE CHOSE IT
The classic rich and indulgent Stollen dates back to the 14th century and is a staple of German Christmas.
(Contains Rum)
Zimtsterne [Cinnamon Stars]
Delicate cinnamon & nut stars, coated with a fine sugar glaze, seeped in a wonderfully festive character.
WHY WE CHOSE IT
Zimtsterne are the most exotic of the Christmas biscuits and easy to love. They are only made of beaten egg whites and nuts, and not of shortcrust pastry.
Vanillekipferl [Vanilla Crescents]
Delicate crescent-shaped biscuits made wonderfully buttery and finished with a generous dusting of vanilla sugar. Vanillekipferl are a fixture of German and Austrian Christmas baking and have a wonderfully crumbly, melt-in-the-mouth texture.
WHY WE CHOSE IT
We love their simplicity. Among all the elaborate things that appear at Christmas, there is something rather lovely about a dusty, sweet biscuit that simply gets the job done.
Butterzeug [Butter Biscuits]
A selection of classic buttery biscuits, made for dipping into coffee, sharing over a cup of tea or simply helping yourself to another one when nobody is watching.
WHY WE CHOSE IT
A favourite of all children. Classic shaped stars, hearts and Christmas trees, these simple but perfect biscuits don’t last long!
Märchenhäuschen [Fairytale House]
The little fairytale cottage is inspired by the gingerbread house from Hansel and Gretel. With apple-filled & chocolate covered Lebkuchen hearts, and an entertaining fairytale that will charm anyone young at heart.
WHY WE CHOSE IT
The Märchenhäuschen brings out the playful, nostalgic side of German festive baking, with a fairytale and gingerbread house to play with long after the Lebkuchen have been enjoyed.
Spekulatius [Spiced Biscuits]
Originating from the Belgium/Netherlands region, Spekulatius (or Speculoos) found its way to Germany via Westphalia and the Rhineland, and has remained part of the German Christmas traditions ever since.
WHY WE CHOSE IT
A classic tea-dunker, the spices are simply irresistible.
Haselnuss & Kakao [Hazelnut & Chocolate Crispy Bites]
A crisp, caramelised biscuit generously packed with roasted hazelnuts and dark cocoa. Nutty, crunchy and deeply satisfying, it's a delicious combination of two flavours that work beautifully together.
WHY WE CHOSE IT
We like products that take something familiar and make it a little more interesting. This isn't simply a chocolate biscuit, the generous hazelnuts and caramelised crunch pack it full of character.
